ABOUT CGGC

Cheltenham & Gloucester Gymnastics Club was born out of a vision during one of the most challenging times in recent history. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, our Head Coach Jimmy Taylor Cardoso and Co-Director Martin Higgins had an ambitious idea: to create a gymnastics club equipped with Olympic-standard equipment, fulfilling a long-standing need in the area.

Lockdown gave Jimmy the time to meticulously plan his dream, and after months of dedication and hard work, British Gymnastics recognised the potential of his vision and decided to invest in it. This crucial support transformed a challenging period into an opportunity to bring high-quality gymnastics to North Gloucestershire.

Since its inception, our club has grown steadily and is now home to approximately 700 gymnasts. We offer a range of programs tailored to all ages and abilities, ensuring that everyone can experience the joy and benefits of gymnastics. Our state-of-the-art facilities provide the perfect environment for learning new skills, building confidence, and fostering a sense of discipline and teamwork.

At Cheltenham & Gloucester Gymnastics Club, we believe in the power of gymnastics to transform lives. Our mission is to create a fun, friendly, and supportive community where every gymnast can thrive. Whether you are a beginner or an aspiring Olympian, we are committed to helping you reach your full potential.

Jimmy Taylor Cardoso

Director & Head Coach

Jimmy Taylor Cardoso founded Cheltenham & Gloucester Gymnastics Club in 2020, driven by his passion for the sport and commitment to the communities of Cheltenham & Gloucester, where he has lived for the past 10 years.

With nearly 15 years of coaching experience, Jimmy has a profound love for gymnastics. Originally from Brazil, he was a competitive gymnast who won gold at the Brazilian Aerobic Championships in 2011 and 2012, and silver at the South American Aerobic Championships in the same years. His achievements earned him a spot at the ANAC International Aerobic Championships in Las Vegas, but due to funding challenges, he moved to the UK to continue his coaching career.

As a coach, Jimmy's gymnasts have had success at national level events in Aerobic and Tumbling, and Regional events in Women's Artistic Gymnastics. His mission is to ensure every gymnast receives the support and training needed to excel. Jimmy believes gymnastics is perfect for staying active and building confidence, and he is committed to creating a fun and friendly atmosphere for everyone.
